I've been on the waiting list since last year, and I've regularly checked to see if my son could start enrolling In the near future. When we heard that there was a spot from a different school, I talked to some of the staff and I was told that they were positive about having a place for him sometime in the summer or the latest in the fall. So I turned down a spot at another preschool. However, I talked to a new receptionist Shawnee recently and she said there would be no way for my son to enroll even in the fall. Because I trusted that he would get in at least by fall, I turned down the other school and haven't even bothered to put him on the waiting list at another preschool. If they didn't make me believe that, I would've contacted other preschools....!! When I went to the school last time, Shawnee was so kind and she wanted to ask questions to her supervisor Kathy for me and se if they could make some accommodations. Kathy's door was open and I could literally see her, but she didn't even bother to come out and speak to me. Instead, she sent Shawnee to ask me ""who told you there would be a space for your son in the fall?"" I was embarrassed that she sent Shawnee to get information before she comes out and talks to me. (When she wasn't even working with someone or talking on the phone. And when she was literally like ten steps away from me) But you know what? I said to Shawnee that I don't remember her name but I talked to three different people but one of them assured me the my son will get a spot at least by this fall. Even after that, Kathy did not come out and speak to me. I was alone right next to the fish tank waiting for her to come talk to me. After that, even Shawnee was on the phone in the staff office. When I finally went into the office (I was tired of waiting) and stood there for a minute or two like an invisible person, I just said ""everyone seems busy, and if there's nothing you can do, I'll just leave."" And that was it. No phone call. Nothing. I felt humiliated by how rude the director treated me. I still called again to confirm whether he could not get in even in sept. Oct. or nov. She said no. I just felt like I should've never trusted what they had said and put my son on the waiting list at other schools as well. Abacus is a three-minute drive from my house, so I really wanted to send my son here, but now I wonder if it's even racial discrimination. Did they start getting too many Asians recently and they don't wanna accept more? Or did she think I was lying that someone from the office had told me about enrollment in the fall? If none of these is true, how could they do this? I'm very disappointed. I think I also paid money to put him on the waiting list. I feel cheated!
