Velocity Local, who’s parent company is Live Deal based out of San Diego CA. and now has offices in Las Vegas is a full service social media company for small businesses. I was recently hired there by their Director of Business Development on October 30, 2013 for the position of Social Media/Marketing Associate; which at the time I felt was an amazing opportunity as the job though semi entry level, was directly affiliated with my degree as I have a BAS specializing in Advertising & Public Relations with a Minor in Media. The following Monday as I started my new position I was not being trained in anything pertaining to my position and the responsibilities I would have and was just instructed to shadow customer service reps. On November 5th 2013 to show initiative I spoke with the Director of Business Development and suggested going to San Diego to train directly with my counterpart so that I may be more effective and this individual liked my idea and informed me I would be reimbursed for my time driving as well as gas and breakfast, lunch, and dinner expenses and to report to the San Diego office the next morning. I began training with my counterpart and was able to do everything that this individual instructed me to and everything seemed fine. On Thursday 11/7/13 the San Diego office was a buzz because the Director of Business Development suddenly and unexpectedly quit. The following was amazing on the disorganization and improper treatment this company does. After a full day of training again and seeing many meetings taking place to find out what is going on I get pulled into a meeting with the CEO as well as the Quality Control Manager. There I am asked what is my education background as well as my employment background. After explaining this and coming to find out that the CEO in a way was completely unaware what I was hired for he went ahead and sugar coated basically not only demoting me to a customer service position when he was unaware that I was full time and they no longer needed full time reps.
