The pilot light on my 6 year old water heater kept going out so I called one of the largest, well advertized home service companies in Houston. THey sent a tech out who said the only option was to replace the entire unit for about $2,000. He also made several statements about the old unit, like it did not have an anode rod, the thickness of the metal, etc. After he left I did some research and found that he was wrong about each of the comments he made about the existing unit.\r \r I called DnB, who installed the existing unit under an American Home Warranty several years ago. (The warranty is no longer in place)\r \r There were some issues trying to diagnose the problem, but the DnB tech tried the least costly fix first. It did not work, but they were out the very next day and replaced the control unit for under $300. The unit is now working flawlessly again for a fraction of the ""large home service"" company's proposal.\r I can only assume that the dissatisfied DnB customers were either unusual cases, or victims of the interaction with American Home Warranty (which I have experienced as well)\r \r Throughout the process DnB was fast, reliable, very courteous and got the job done at a reasonable price. I would not hesitate to recommend them to anyone.\r
