This cab company was awesome. We were staying at the Omni South and originally asked the valet/concierge to call us a cab for 5 people. He said none of the cabs would take 5, the most they would hold is 4 and we would need two cabs. I did some calling around and Austin Cab said no problem. They actually can take as many as 7. We called 20 minutes before we wanted to leave, they don't take calls in advance, and the dispatcher at the cab company said to give her 5 minutes and she would call us back if they had one available. We panicked thinking she wouldn't, but she did call back very quickly and gave us the cab number (#53) and time of arrival which turned out to be great because the hotel had called a 4 person cab for us also. The cab was on time, clean and the driver was very nice. We headed downtown to 6th Street and had a great time. Called the cab around 2 AM and the same cab again came very quickly to pick us up. He had no trouble finding us and this can sometimes be a trick in the downtown area of Austin. We were very pleased with the service we received. one trick I have learned is to ask the cabbie for his number instead of going through dispatch. Sometimes they will come if they don't have another fare.
