Review content:
When i moved to Pittsburgh a few years ago I took my pets to the Big Easy Animal Hospital in Lawrenceville. I was always very pleased taking them here. I was living in Greenfield and could have taken them to the Greenfield Veterinary Hospital but I heard less than pleasant things about them from many different people that i met in the Greenfield area.\r
Then a time came when Greenfield Veterinary Hospital was convenient in location and I told myself how bad could it be? My dog had a growth that they did a biopsy on and also removed for him. This is one of the most stressful things I have ever had to deal with in my life. I will NEVER return. The worst veterinary care I have ever encountered. If only I would have read the reviews on line before taking my baby here!\r
The first appointment went fine, but it was the ones after that that I became unhappy. Dr. Handke was nice enough, but not great. I felt rushed when coming here and my questions that were answered were vague. I was talked over and felt stupid. I only saw Dr. Handke once in my 5 visits to the office within 2 weeks. Most of the technicians are okay, but one young blonde girl, seems to have the need to slam my dog down on the table when its time to do anything! This made me very angry, my dog is incredibly cooperative and would sit/lay down in any position you'd like him to be in easily. After the surgery my dog was sent home with a cone that was WAY too small. I mentioned this, but was ignored. I was also told it was going to be a hard healing process because of the way they stitched him up. On the first day my dog was so out of it, it didn't even matter because he wanted nothing to do with the incision, but i knew it was only a matter of time before he became curious. On day two he proved that he was able to reach the incision. He had all around supervision for 3 days but my boyfriend and I had to go back to work. On that third day when I got home he had torn his bandage off and had some of the suchers ripped out with raw skin being exposed and some bleeding. I panicked! Thankfully they were able to see him and he only needed to have it bandaged. This happened repeatedly. They charged me insane amounts to ""examine"" him and bandage him multiple times (poorly) when all they needed to do was give me a cone that fit my dog properly. The third time they wrapped him I told them it was pointless and he was just going to get it off. The technician told me he was confident it would stay. Hours later.. bandage off. At this point, i'm livid. Finally, not until I called in extremely upset the next day did I get someones attention. I explained everything and they told me to come in and they would look at the incision once more and properly fit him for a cone. We tried a different style, but they only had one size. I knew immediately it was WAY TOO SMALL. I didn't understand even for a second that this lady could possibly think he wasn't going to be able to bite/lick at the incision. My dog shows her with in minutes that he can indeed reach and shes dumbfounded! She told me she would order the correct size immediately and that it would be in in a few days. She specifically told me not to call in, that they would call me. Guess what!?They never called. They told me that they would supply the ecollar free of charge because of all of the trouble I have gone through. It kills me that I trusted these people. I know if i would have went to the Big Easy Animal Hospital things would have been a lot different. My dog would have healed at the proper time, he wouldn't have been in pain for so long and I wouldn't have been dishing out money every few days to these morons. Do yourself a favor and go to the Big Easy!!!!
