Review content:
Last night Friday my wife and I decided to go to Happy Hour at McCormick and Schmick?s in the Domain. The atmosphere was great, crowded with an upbeat crowd that was more to the 40 plus side.\r The Happy Hour Menu is priced at $1.95, $3.95 and $4.95, and what a value for the quality and quantity they serve for these prices. The drink specials are good as well.\r We had three different dishes. The Rice rounds, Steamed mussels in White wine, and the fried calamari.\r The rice rounds were done to perfection crisp on the outside tender and flavorful on the inside. \r The mussels were not over cooked and very tender and tasty, the sauce though was magnificent, just the right blend of spices and garlic, and don?t forget to ask for some bread to dip. \r The new Best of Austin Calamari should go to McCormick and Schmick?s in the Domain period. I am from New York City and it is hard to get perfectly breaded and cooked calamari but they have found the recipe. It is tender and very lightly breaded with no greasiness at all. I know the chef has to watch the time very closely; a couple of seconds to long and you have rubbery food which is what most restaurants serve. It is served with three dipping sauces, but not with traditional marinara but I got over this rather quickly as I was in heaven from the taste. It is a large portion and only $4.95.\r The service and attentiveness makes you think you are in a very high-end restaurant in New York or Paris, not Austin. Two managers were constantly checking to see if everything was ok, this on top of the waiter being excellent. We had a long conversation with one of the managers and he said the company?s philosophy is to serve the best quality food and just as important to make sure the customer was very well taken care of. \r We can?t wait to have dinner there and if it is as good as Happy Hour that will be great.\r \r Pros: Staff, Food Quality
