Today my daughter called me all upset. Her five year old rabbit is in respiratory distress. She was told by our regular vet that she should take her rabbit directly to Angell Memorial. Before she was even seen she had to pay a $140.00 fee and I assume the rabbit was triaged and my daughter was told that the rabbit was stable at that time. I received a call from my daughter later that afternoon. She was trying to borrow $200.00 from her brother and then asked to speak to me. She would need a total of $846.00 up front in order to have tests done on her beloved pet. I asked to speak with the doctor who was discussing the case with my daughter. The vet said that the rabbit was in distress but doing well on oxygen. The vet wanted to do cultures, a chest x-ray and a CBC or complete blood count. I asked her for a potential diagnosis. She said the rabbit would need to be hospitalized and testing completed before she could give me a prognosis. When I tried to get more information, she told me s
