I was new to Austin and landed upon this practice while doing some research in setting up my annual exam. I saw Dr. Lydia Sweeney. I arrived for my appointment on time and the receptionist was less than friendly. After being shown to the exam room and asked to disrobe, I talked to an okay nurse or physician's assistant who took my info. Then, I waited well over 45 minutes in a flimsy paper gown, freezing to death, for Dr. Sweeney to make her entrance. She did not apologize for being late. In addition to the normal annual exam I had some other minor gynecologic issue to discuss. Imagine my shock and horror when Dr. Sweeney recommended a hysterectomy for me (I am 38) to resolve something that I know is treatable with less invasive procedures. After picking my jaw up off the floor and her making her exit, I then went to check out, at which point I stood in their back office hallway for 20 minutes while the billing or payment person was on the phone with someone else. I resolved at that point not to go back. But to add insult to injury, I received a bill from them 15 months later (never received ANYTHING over those 15 months) for over $350. They stated that my insurance denied the claim due to waiting period (bogus). When I asked what the $82 handling fee was they were charging on the statement, they replied that it is an extra fee they were charging when insurance didn't cover a claim. So...they charge EXTRA to people whose insurance is not good or not covering? I made her take the charge off my bill. I was also charged for a urinalysis that was never performed.\r \r I've never seen such a tremendous lack of respect for the patient's time, such an abysmal set of office procedures, or such an absolute insult of my intelligence for the doctor to assume that I did not research my problem before coming in and recommend a highly invasive procedure for a minor problem. You couldn't pay me to go back to her if she was the only doctor left in Austin. Pros: I never have to see them again. Cons: Everything about the experience.
