Review content:
We have had two experiences with Dick VanDyke. One was excellent the other has been pretty dismal. The first experience led us to purchase a new washer, dryer, and dishwasher from them for a new house we are moving into.
We liked our stove from our first house so we wanted to bring it with us.
One problem, we were moving from Natural Gas to LP service. They were unable to make the service trip with the install trip. The logic being installers do not require the training a true service man does. OK fair enough.
Things seemed to be going good when the service man called and said since he was working in the area he wanted to verify whether he would be able to complete the repair or would need to order a part. Also a good sign. As it turned out the part needed to be ordered and there was some question as to whether the part would be avaliable. (OH OH) It seemed that it took a few more days than would be expected to get the call that they could order the part. So we had to wait for the part to be delivered(before mothers day) Finally with Memorial day approaching we called to find out if the part was in yet. The lady who took my call seemed somewhat shocked that this issue was still outstanding but since the parts department wasn't answering she told me she would call back that day. The following Tuesday not having received a call I finally called back, same routine although they did call back later that day and scheduled to come out the next day. The service man came out and installed the part but was unable to hook up the stove because there was another part that he did not have in his truck. This part was a very basic coupling and I had some in my shop that I was able to install and hook up the stove. Unfortunately he did not inform us that the stove and oven would require aditional adjustment. The stove seems to be working in a reasonable fasion but given the large flame coming through the side vents of the oven I would consider it rather dangerous to use the oven. Cost of the service call seemed rather high.
