Do not work with Tony Lazarov. I'm not sure if this is how he operates, or the entire Uptown Realty company. \r \r We had an external realtor show us an Uptown Realty property, which we decided to apply for. During the application process, Tony was awful with communication both to our realtor and to us. He kept saying we needed various forms to prove our income level, otherwise we would need to get a guarantor. As we tried various guarantors and submitted various forms to prove our income, he kept asking for more via our external realtor. \r \r During this time, one of the applicants decided to seek another opportunity. As soon as she communicated this to Tony, he said that we had been approved, and since we were approved we forfeited the preemptive $2,000 security deposit (money order). We argued that he never communicated to us that we were approved, in fact he had communicated the opposite. \r \r It was a nightmare at that point. The person who was going to drop out of the lease had to stick with it. We negotiated with them about last month's rent, which he said we had agreed to pay (only one person had agreed to doing that) to prove our financial abilities. We were generous to even give them half month's last rent at that point, as they had magically approved us without a guarantor or everyone agreeing to pay last month's rent.\r \r He also charged us a $400 ""administrative fee,"" so we could pay him for his awful, unprofessional, weasely behavior. When we needed to sit down to finalize and sign the lease, SUPRISE he was ""out of the country,"" so he did not even fulfill his obligations to look over and explain the lease to us before our move in date.\r \r Avoid Tony Lazarov and Uptown Realty, look for administrative fees in an application, and avoid ever paying a large security deposit until lease signing.
