Review content:
Both speech therapy (w/ another therapist) and occupational therapy with Candy Bond were recommended for our quiet 5 year old child. We tried speech first, and he remained quiet. Then we added OT with Candy. Doing both was too much, so after a month we dropped the Speech Therapy. After a few months on Occupational Therapy alone, our quiet child started talking. He also started eating peaches (and he didn't like mushy foods.) He is still a picky eater, but he can tolerate a wider range of foods. He is now 14, loves Drama, rides a bike, and loves to play football with friends at recess.
Candy is very experienced and knowledgeable. She has consulted with at least one school in Austin, offering an effective solution for unusual behavior. Candy keeps the therapy fun and educates the parent in activities at home that further the therapy's effects. We are forever grateful to her for her work with our son. It has been over 5 years since we saw her, at that time she had no office staff, so I know nothing about her office staff. She had student OT's sometimes who were under her supervision She's great.
