Review content:
I've lived in the Clear Lake area for over 11 years. This was the first Thai place I ate at when I moved down and is still my favorite. Their Pad Kee Mao at the highest tier of spicyness is incredible! My lunch partner loves their Pad See Ew at 3 pepper as well. I've tried other dishes there and they all were delicious. They have a great spice tray with crushed peanuts, chili paste, roasted & crushed Thai chilis and chilis in fish sauce and lemon juice that they'll gladly bring if you ask. I love their custard on sweet rice... but it's a little "alien" to those who are used to more traditional "American" deserts. The owner, her brother and the head waitress always treat us with respect and like to kid around. I think that some people mistake their humor for rudeness. I definately recommend this place for authentic, fresh Thai food. On some occasions, like Valentine's Day for one, they'll offer multi-course meals and don't offer regular menu items. While that's not my idea of a great dining experience, I think that's pretty cool. Their lunch specials cover the gamut of traditional Thai dishes and change depending on the day of the week. I feel that for the amount of food you get, they're reasonably priced. They also seem to be open to customizing dishes. Thai Cottage down the road used to be pretty good, but has fallen off pretty bad the past year or so. The last 4 times there, I was sorely disappointed. Thai Lemmongrass is a joke... and thanks to Hurricane Ike, Merlion in Kemah is no more. Recommended Items: Yum Num Tock, Cheese Rolls, Po Peah Nung, Po Peah Tod, Tom Yum, Tom Kha, Pla Nard Prik, Scallops Prik Pao, All the Ga Pao Dishes, Pad Kee Mao, Pad See Ew, Pad Thai Really, there are too many to list... Just check it out. Keep in mind, for the most part, this is authentic Thai. If you're not experimental with your cuisine, you may come away with a less than favorable opinion. Pros: Great Authentic Thai, Friendly Waitstaff/Management, Wide Variety of Dishes Cons: Hours, Size of Establishment
