Review content:
My sister is an absolutely cookie fanatic, so when I heard about this bakery, I had to try it out (even though it was all the way on the west side, and i lived in the east village). I was not disappointed. The cookies are opposite of Jacque Torres - which is a couple blocks away and also noted as top cookies: where JT is big and flat (think Zaro's), Levain's is fatter like a scone. I've had the chocolate chip cookie with walnuts and the double chocolate with peanut butter; both are really good, but it's hard to eat a whole cookie in one setting because it's so heavy. I would not be surprised if each cookie had literally 1000 calories. I gave it a 4/5 because of the heaviness factor (the cookie sheet and paper bag get soaked from the grease almost immediately).
