I have lived in Austin for 20 years and have eaten at all the recommended ""Burger Joints"" including Dirtys over the years. Recently I went back to Dirtys to check out all the buzz created by the remodel and new outdoor patio. The food is still TO DIE FOR! A recent review about the portions was totally incorrect (must have been written by someone who overeats). The portions are just fine.
The amazing thing about this place is that it has been in business for over 70 years and it is still going strong for 1 reason. THE FOOD! They have the freshest veggies and the meat is fresh (never frozen) according to our excellent waitress. The service is great - even when they are busy. Now that they have an outdoor patio with VERY COLD BEER - it is a great place to just hang out and people watch.
