Wow! Our quest for the perfect wedding has begun with one answer to one question, YES! Now the hard part, where? This was going to be an adventure down a first time bunny trail! We started searching the Internet, the newspapers, tv, even friends and family and their two friends, and so on, and so on! I enjoyed meeting with coordinators and getting to know the different facilities. We even spent a mind boggling 3 hours at the Houston Wedding Extravaganza, whoa! When we met with the staff at Shirley Acres, it was apparent the they had something quality to offer. Also, they where located the beautiful area where I spent most of my life growing up, so they had a lock on the familiarity aspect as well. We attended an open, still not sure! This event put us over the edge, we had found it! Now the negotiations begin. I presumed that this was going to be somewhat like buying a used car, man, did they prove me wrong. They at every meeting made everything so comfortable and reassuring that we couldn't say no. My fiance and I even heard our song at the open house, a great omen. Shirley Acres did everything they could to accommodate us with absolutely no pressure whatsoever. I am on crutches with a life long handicap. They made me feel right at home everything was accessible from the get go. From that point of view, you all with so called limitations should know that this is the place to be! Furthermore, I regularly caught the staff checking in on my 91 year old grandmother, scoring more points!\r \r I can't forget about the incredible restaurant next door! The Lodge is one of greatest culinary experiences of my life, and I am known to have an exquisite palate. From the maitrede to the chef, this is top of line vittles. So in short, from our coordinator Lauren to her sidekick, Lindsey. From Bob, Owner/Maitrede to Jim, the floral and cake coordinator. This was the perfect wedding!!!!! \r \r Thanks and God Bless, \r \r The Verbois Family Pros: Wonderful staff, romantic setting, incredible food! Cons: 1960 traffic, 4 hours flew by!
