I'm vegetarian, and I get excited when I find a new restaurant to try. Someone had recommended this place to me, so I decided to give it a go. \r
I walked in and was ignored for about 5 minutes, and saw that this restaurant is based on a small religious cult. I was led to a table that was front and center, and seated me toward the door. Everyone that walked into the dining area had to walk by me, which was a bit uncomfortable as I was dining alone. The greeter barely said a word to me, and the person that took my order didn't speak english very well. \r
The menu is strictly Chinese food. I ordered the spring rolls and the house special chicken (fake chicken). \r
I waited about 10 minutes for the appetizer.\r
The spring rolls were freshly made and very hot from frying. The inside texture was pasty and bland; the dominant flavor was mushroom. I tried making it more savory with the sweet and sour sauce, but the sauce was so poorly flavored that I could not taste it at all.\r
I waited about 20 minutes for the main dish AFTER I had finished my spring rolls -40 min total. \r
The chicken arrived and looked good, although a description on the menu would have helped. It was two batterd and deep fried fake chicken patties over a bed of chopped cabbage with a brown sauce. The chicken was absolutely tasteles. The texture was bizarre, with the pattie being made of several layers of thin rubbery sheets. The batter was not spiced at all. It did however hold oil well, so the result was a heavy, greay dish. The brown sauce had a faint taste of soy sauce, and that was about it. It was sprinkled with chopped green onions which also managed to be tasteless. I ended up putting some soy sauce on my rice and ate that so I wouldn't be hungry.\r
They gave me a vegan fortune cookie on the way out - it tasted like saw dust and coconut oil. I barely gagged down half of it. \r
Overall, my experience was extremely disappointing. I would not recommend it, and I will not go there again.
