As with many women, I have had my battles with finding the perfect salon. There are many options to consider: first and foremost - talent, second - location, location, location, third - do I feel comfortable here, Shine in the Heights has one of the most inviting and warm atmosphere's around. You can walk in and just feel at home here (This may be due to the fact that it is a renovated house or because the owner has her cute little dog running around) and fourth - this place offers the perks of a 5th Avenue Salon, but offers a great deal for the quality of their services. I kept hearing things about this ""quaint little salon"" in the Heights that I just had to check out. I finally booked an appointment with someone named Sharon. I walked in, dug the vibe and got whisked into a charming little back room to talk about my hair. I'm blond, but I'm picky - why? I hate getting my hair done and then feeling like it needs to be colored two weeks later. I expressed this concern to Sharon and she said that she had a solution for that ... at this point I was thinking, ""ok, I have been getting my hair colored blond for over 20 years now and no one has had a solution"" In the end, SHE WAS RIGHT - she did what I refer to as hair magic... I went in six weeks later to get my hair done again, but I still felt like it was as good as new. My roots were blended perfectly and tone was still fresh and vibrant. I went in the second time and this time we added a trim. She trimmed my hair to my exact request. (I hate it when I walk into a salon and ask for trim and walk out with my hair six inches shorter). Bottom line, Sharon is a brilliant colorist who can really feel what a person is wanting and she knows how to listen to her clients. What more can you ask for?
