Review content:
Lots of wonderful reviews so I was looking forward to trying SHCP. We had thin crust and stuffed pizzas and a beef sandwich too. The pizzas were very good: fresh ingredients and truly Chicagoan (fennel seeds in the sausage, oregano, cut in squares, good stuff!). One problem: both pizzas were black on the bottom. This happens when flour is not cleaned from the oven shelf often enough (I'm grew up in Chicago, I worked in a great pizza place there, trust me on this...). The Italian beef sandwich was very good but no place in Chicago toasts the bun. In Chicago you'll be asked if you want it ""wet"" (lots of au ju). You do. At SHCP the order taker didn't know what I was talking about. I was taken aback when asked if I wanted cheese on the sandwich. Cheese? We're talking Chicago, not Philadelphia! Two of us wanted only water to drink. We got charged for empty cups. This is common at some fast food outlets but shouldn't happen if you aspire to be a ""real"" restaurant. Same goes for the pretend parmesan cheese in the little green packets. Yuck! The premises are clean and comfortable. We didn't get the opportunity to talk with anybody other than the order taker. SHCP is good. It has potential to be great. We'll try it again some day because I really want to be able to rate this place better than ""average"". Pros: Potential to be great. Cons: Not there yet.
