Businiess name:  Steamers of Pismo

Review content:
While on a short weekend trip to Pismo, I visited Steamers with some family. Being that the restaurant is right on the beach, you would assume that their seafood is top notch...not so!\r \r Our waiter had absolutely no grasp of the menu whatsoever. He was unsure of accommodating any special requests, could not explain what type of fish Orange Roughy was (when asked, he stammered that he would have to ask the chef), and was generally unhelpful. \r \r While the steamed clams are just to die for, the remainder of the menu leaves a lot to be desired. Halibut and Chilean Sea Bass are wonderful delicate types of fish, but Steamers drowns theirs in thick sauces like dijonnaise and tomato cream. The halibut is crusted in crumbs with a dijoinnaise sauce and covered in Havarti cheese! Those strong flavors should be enough to cover up the overwhelming fish flavor of the sea bass that I had. Ugh. \r \r As the evening wore on, our waiter became more or less invisible, not stopping by to check on us at all. Busboys had us pass plates down the tables to them instead of coming around to pick them up themselves. Coffee that was ordered was carried around while busboys piled the tray with dirty dishes. Drink refills never came. To top it all off, when asked if the restaurant could put a candle in a desert that was ordered for a young boy's birthday, we were told that the restaurant would give him a can of their signature clam chowder instead...\r \r As mentioned in other posts, the drinks and clams were great. Hang out in the lounge to start your evening and view the sunset, then head on to something better. Pros: Beautiful view, great clams Cons: Terrible service, fishy seafood
