Best

Wow! I would say this is the best seafood I have had, ever. I had the Ono (whatever that is, it's some sort of white fish) with a ""Japanese salsa"" it consisted of creamed wasabi...

A beautiful view does not a great restaurant make! 4/14/2008

While on a short weekend trip to Pismo, I visited Steamers with some family. Being that the restaurant is right on the beach, you would assume that their seafood is top notch...not so!\r \r Our waiter had absolutely no grasp of the menu whatsoever. He was unsure of accommodating any special requests, could not explain what type of fish Orange Roughy was (when asked, he stammered that he would have to ask the chef), and was generally unhelpful. \r \r While the steamed clams are just to die for, the remainder of the menu leaves a lot to be desired. Halibut and Chilean Sea Bass are wonderful delicate types of fish, but Steamers drowns theirs in thick sauces like dijonnaise and tomato cream. The halibut is crusted in crumbs with a dijoinnaise sauce and covered in Havarti cheese! Those strong flavors should be enough to cover up the overwhelming fish flavor of the sea bass that I had. Ugh. \r \r As the evening wore on, our waiter became more or less invisible, not stopping by to check on us at all. Busboys had us pass plates down the tables to them instead of coming around to pick them up themselves. Coffee that was ordered was carried around while busboys piled the tray with dirty dishes. Drink refills never came. To top it all off, when asked if the restaurant could put a candle in a desert that was ordered for a young boy's birthday, we were told that the restaurant would give him a can of their signature clam chowder instead...\r \r As mentioned in other posts, the drinks and clams were great. Hang out in the lounge to start your evening and view the sunset, then head on to something better. Pros: Beautiful view, great clams Cons: Terrible service, fishy seafood more

BE PREPARED FOR A BIG BILL AND BAD FOOD 2/18/2008

Went to this place because it was recommended..WHY...I do not know. I ordered seafood platter. I got two small shrimp, two breaded calms or could of been oysters (?) And two small pieces fish... And it was piled up on a hugh heaping over flowing plate of french fries that had been cooked at least 6 times before they were served to me. They were so greasy and hard and the taste was as if they had been cooked 6 times before...OLD. I had enough fries to serve 5 people. I paid $ 26.00 for a plate of fries...\r I did complain , but SO . I still paid for a meal I couldn't eat and left hungry. OTHERS MAY OR MUST LOVE IT, THEY STAY BUSY. THE WAIT WAS LONG. AND JUST WAS NOT WORTH IT.AT LEAST NOT TO ME. DON'T MIND PAYING $30 A PERSON OR SOMETIMES MORE FOR A REALLY GOOD MEAL..AND I EAT OUT ALOT. BUT LATELY MEALS ARE JUST BAD..OR I'M GETTING TO PICKY more

Faked Seafood Restaurant 12/26/2006

Terrible seafood restaurant. If you want imitation crab meat, go to Steamers. We ordered a lunch special dish, seafood omelet with crab and shrimp. It came with imitation crab meat and tiny bay shrimp. At least the waitress was honest saying she thinks it was imitation crab meat when we questioned her. However, she came back a couple of minutes later apologizing she had made a mistake and said the chef insisted it was real crab meat.\r \r I must say that we have enough California Roll that we know what imitation crab meat is. Chef, an advice to you. Please don't insult the customers and make a fool out of the waitress.\r \r NOT RECOMMENDED. Feel cheated.\r \r The view is nice, and the waitress is awesome. more

Amazing seafood & view 9/26/2006

Wow! I would say this is the best seafood I have had, ever. I had the Ono (whatever that is, it's some sort of white fish) with a ""Japanese salsa"" it consisted of creamed wasabi, mixed with a mild salsa of some sort. That was placed on wasabi mashed potatoes and some perfectly cooked steamed asparagus. We had New Zealand mussels as an appetizer. Yum!! ""New Zealand greenlipped mussels sauteed with pancetta, garlic, shallots, fresh tomatoes, leeks, white wine, & butter."" I also had the best Pina Colada of my life at this location. The view was beautiful, it is on a bluff above the beach. We had a view of a nice clean beach, the slowing sinking sun, and the ocean. I have to agree with one of the other reviewers, going near sunset is a perfect time it was gorgeous. I can't say enough good things about it. I would have eaten breakfast, lunch, and dinner here if it weren't so expensive. Moderately expensive, my meal was $30, his was $35. \r Pros: Ocean view, great bar, wonderful food Cons: strange music more

Great seafood with terrific view 6/9/2006

Okay - the menu is pricey, but that's normal for a seafood restaurant on the central coast with a great view. The food is wonderful. I recently went back to Steamers for my birthday. I ordered the Sea Bass, which was so good it melted in my mouth. On the lighter side, Steamer's seafood salad may be a bit expensive but it large enough that you can eat half at the restaurant and take the other half home. more

magnificent! 10/26/2005

the best steamed clams I have ever had, and the blackened Ahi tuna is to die for! more
