Review content:
My son attended this center from the beginning of April 2011 until the very start of June 2011. He had been in one daycare center before this one, and is now enrolled at Magness Creek Early Learning Center (which is fantastic). My gut kept telling me something was ""off"" about Kareer Kids, but I just kept swallowing the excuses. First his teacher walked out and quit after his second week (she was wonderful btw, she had no trouble calming my son down when he would get upset at me leaving and absorbing him in an activity or breakfast and when I'd heard she quit with no notice I wondered why). After that they begun shuffling my child around from teacher to teacher. He would still get upset when I left, but I just kept telling myself it would pass. It didn't. As the weeks went on he actually got WORSE about not wanting to go to the point of crying when we turned on the street leading to the daycare and begging me not to take him right before I pulled him out. I kept thinking it was because he needed to adjust, but something kept telling me that the fact that his separation anxiety was getting WORSE not better was a red flag. On numerous occasions I walked into blatant DHS violations (they always had ready excuses, but eventually it became clear that if this is what I was SEEING by chance, there was no telling what was going on that I didn't get to see)- the staff to child ratio was often way off, the toys and rooms were often very dirty, the children were put down for naps and not gotten up from naps until way past DHS regulations allow (DHS says 1-2 hours per day- they were putting the kids down for 3-4 hours per day making them stay on their mats the entire time). The meals they give are tiny! I would have to feed my child breakfast before he came and a snack as soon as we got home (he's not overweight- he's totally in healthy height and weight limits for his age!) because he would freak out about being hungry otherwise when he got home. He eats a normal amount for a child his age. I went in once during lunch and another time snack time and saw the same things- TINY portions, inadequately nutritious meals according to the outlines of the USDA food program they are supposed to be operating under, and junk. Parents were not allowed to bring in any outside food, and we were jumped all over if we didn't clock in/out since that's how they get reimbursed by the USDA. It became clear that the USDA program was just a way to try to make money and that they give little to no care about the kids nutrition or health at all. The Director was horrible! She talked to parents like her lap dogs (including my husband and I), and treated many of her employees that weren't her ""favorites"" the same (I was unfortunately able to witness the difference firsthand). She does not care if you have issues (good luck finding her in the office or center for that matter), and will only make excuses never fix problems or issues. I rarely ever saw an employee smile, most of them looked tired, frustrated, and irritated pretty much all the time. I pulled my son from the center and honestly haven't regretted it since, my only regret was that I placed him there at all. I forfeited his tuition for the rest of that week and the next that I had already paid (gladly- it was worth getting him out of that place to lose $200!!!), I didn't even bother to pick up his things because my experience was so awful that I never wanted to go back again. If you don't believe me then do yourself a favor and start popping in at odd times just to check and see how everything going/what's going on. I'll guarantee that within a few weeks you'll see what these other bad reviews and mine are saying is true unfortunately. Do yourself a favor- take your child elsewhere!!!
