Review content:
Four weeks before my wedding reception I placed an order. I spoke with a staff person & the owner. I explained the wedding would be in Las Vegas and the reception would take place in Austin after our return. We discussed options and sketched a design for the bridal cake. I was prepared to pay up to 50% of the cake that day and was told ""No, we have plenty of time."" They wanted me to think about some options we discussed and come back after we returned from Las Vegas. \r
\r
I returned to their bakery the day after arriving home from Vegas, only to be told by the owner that she would not be doing my cake because no deposit was paid. I offered to pay it the day I was originally in but was specifically told ""No, we have plenty of time."" The owner then gave me the true reason she did not want my business...she had a much larger order for that same day. (300 people) \r
\r
Furthermore she explained if she had ever planned on baking my bridal cake, she would have baked it the weekend before. That seemed odd. I would certainly prefer a fresh cake. Today I read a review here about a woman receiving a half frozen cake.\r
\r
I ended up ordering my bridal cake just one mile down 183 at Ann's Kitchen (on Spicewood Springs Road) and they did a phenominal job on my last minute (semi-panicked) order. My reception went off without another hitch, and my guests loved the Italian Creme cake I got from Ann's Kitchen. \r
\r
The price I was quoted at Cakes Chocolates & More was $210. I ended up getting a fabulous cake from Ann's Kitchen for $95 and they catered to my last minute need. For much better service, for true service and to avoid the risk of having your order shelved because something bigger came alone, go to Ann's Kitchen.
