My wife and I were planning on getting her father an interesting and unique cake for his birthday. We filled out the online request for information, and detailed what we wanted - a 3D Harley Davidson motorcycle, to serve about a dozen people. They replied the next day, and said that they couldn't complete this request, and we should go to the shop to ""discuss options."" So, we went to this bakery this morning and spoke to the woman (we think she's the owner). She said that there was no way that a motorcycle could possibly be scaled down to such a small cake, and suggested that it be at least 50 slices (and gestured about 3 feet long)...which is obviously too much cake for 12 people.\r \r After declining the super-sized cake, she asked if my father-in-law had any hobbies - he does, I explained - motorcycles. To that, she said ""maybe a saddlebag?"" and pointed to a picture of such a cake on their wall (hardly the ""unique"" cake we wanted, if she's already made one like it!). We again said that we had our hearts set on a motorcycle, and she countered with another suggestion - a ""Route 66"" sign....which I guess you ~could~ ride a motorcycle along, but he lives in Texas, not California!\r \r She then said she could make a Harley-Davidson logo, but replace their name with his ""so as not to break copyright laws."" This. she explained would serve twelve people, but she stressed several times that we would not just be paying for the cake - we would be paying for her time, which is not cheap. This 12-slice cake wouldn't cost the $4-7 per slice quoted on her website - her labor alone to airbrush it would cost $155...almost twice the price per slice that they advertise.\r \r Throughout the whole ""conversation,"" she seemed distracted, and kept glancing over our shoulders out the window, and stopped to help another customer who came in after us. REALLY BAD customer service! In the end we decided to try making it ourselves...we can make ten cakes for the inflated price she wanted.
