Businiess name:  Mel's Drive-In
Review by:  citysearch c.
Review content:
I know it's California and prices are naturally going to be higher, but $30 for breakfast at a 50's nostalgia diner for two people is just absurd. I wouldn't even be so mad if the portions were decent, but I left Mel's feeling robbed, deaf, and still very hungry. Not to mention the staff was extremely off-putting, mumbling our orders and a bit condescending. Here's a break-down of what we had: French toast (two slices for $6) with bacon (2 slices for $4.99) iced tea (weak and watery, $2.50), Turkey Melt ($7.99 and nothing to write home about) with fries (SEPARATE, and about $3) and a coke ($2.79). All in all, plus a scant tip, we paid $30 just to turn around and pay $10 for a decent and filling breakfast at a cafe two hours later. AVOID THIS PLACE, unless of course you have a trust-fund. Pros: Breakfast All Day Cons: Absurdly high prices, unfriendly staff, too loud
