Total Concepts Salon is not a bad salon, but I had an awful experience today! I have been there four or five times, and every cut or straightening or updo I've had before was very satisfactory. However, I had an appointment with Brooke today and I left very disappointed and dissatified. The plan was to do a run-through of an updo for my wedding in October. In two hours, she gave me a fairly good idea of three different do's (although the first two were really not what I was trying to get her to do). The last one was close to what I wanted, but started falling apart when she put the veil on. I would understand why it would take two hours if she had actually completed any of the styles, but each one of them was unfinished. After the two hours, we walked up front to pay, and found out she was charging $50 an hour. We were shocked! Not that it is uncommon for salons to charge such a price, but from a salon charging that much, I would expect some more experienced, professional work. The entire time she was doing my hair, I felt like she did not know what she was doing, and she kept trying to find different ways to do the back (such as a french twist) when I told her that I wanted a bun.\r \r I have heard that she is great at color, which I believe because her hair looks great and she does her own hair, but don't let her do an updo if you're looking for anything besides a slicked-back ponytail look. I am just disappointed that the salon would let me schedule an updo with her when they knew they would charge me $50 an hour. (Which they say is cheaper than the usual $100 an hour).\r \r The point is: If you go to this salon, only sign up for an updo with Doris and maybe a coloring with Brooke. Don't let just anybody do your hair because they'll charge you big bucks no matter how dissatisfied you are with it afterwards.\r Pros: there is some skill at this salon but... Cons: they allow those with very little skill in some areas to work in their weak areas, and you get charged for it!!
