Businiess name:  Morton Williams Supermarkets

Review content:
HERE IS MY FIRST EMAIL THAT YOU NEVER ANSWERED. Dear Morton Williams, I have been wanting to write to Morton Williams for about two years now. I have now reached my absolute limit with my local store that I can't put it off any longer. I live right next door to the Morton Williams at 278 Park Ave. S. (b/w 22nd & Park Ave. S.) I am DISGUSTED with this store. 1. I am DISGUSTED with the people who work there. Disgusted with the managers who eat McDonalds at the closed register while customers are lined up around the aisle. Disgusted at the check out women who literally do not say one word to you when you are checking out. No, ‘hello’. No, ‘thank you’. Nothing. And disgusted at the cat calls that come from the men who work there when they are loading product outside the store. There is absolutely no leadership at this store and no sense of customer service. 2. I am DISGUSTED with the food at this store. There are constantly flies around the produce and the produce is rarely fresh. Las year the freezer in the store broke down. I discovered this by picking up a pint of ice cream only to have it overflow because it had been melted for so long. I had to point out to a manager that the freezer was broken. He seemed less than concerned. If that wasn’t bad enough, the next day the SAME ice cream was still in this freezer. They repaired the freezer but did not through away all of the dairy that had melted. You could tell by the condition of the ice cream that this was the case. I am shocked that my family and I have not gotten sick from shopping at this store. I try to go to this store as little as possible. I much rather pay the delivery fee for Fresh Direct or trek the extra 5 blocks to Whole Foods, but sometimes I have no choice on my way home from work. After the last time I was there I vow to never shop at this store again. It is purely a HORRIBLE experience EVERY single time I walk in. Just look at the comments on this page as well as Yelp. I am clearly not the only person who feels this way. Comments that stand out: “Beyond disgusting is what I called this chain of supermarkets....take a peek at the hand carriers and how filthy they are....the meats are kept out for weeks on end. Sometimes I go in there to buy chicken that has a date two weeks ahead on it.I don't know how they stay in business. The staff is rude.“ “But you know what? I should have known better, because a couple of months before that, I'd been shopping for cream cheese, again in the prepared foods section, and saw that a whole stack of containers had big green splotches of mold on them. I took them to the guy behind the deli counter... who was cleaning his nails... and gave them to him, explaining about the mold. He seemed barely concerned and told me that the bottom container in the stack didn't look like it had mold on it and did I want that one? Um... no, stupid.” Please do something about this store. Neighborhood grocery stores in New York should be our pride. They are what feeds us and should be a place a neighborhood is proud of. I cannot say that about this store. It is a health hazard and and extremely unpleasant place to shop. I hope you actually read this letter as well as the comments in the links from Yelp and CitySearch and do something about this disgusting store.
