Review content:
I've read so much about Dr Hardwick-Smith on this form, I felt like I should say something about Dr Ohlemacher. I recently switched to her because my previous OB/GYN was further from my house and the wait times there averaged an hour or more.
Dr Jessica Ohlemacher is younger than most OBGYN's I've met but she is *the* most understanding and compassionate one I know. I bring a list of at least 17 questions to every appointment and she answers every single one without making me feel silly at all. I know this is a doctor's ""job"" but her attitude is always so reassuring. I can ask her dumb things like ""I sneezed! did I deprive my baby of oxygen??"" and she will answer without laughing. I love that she is vigilant about my blood pressure without making a big deal about it. In fact there were several things that I was anxious about (go figure) and Dr Ohlemacher is GREAT at explaining things so that I understand the severity (or not so severity) of the concern without making me more anxious but also without playing it down or being dismissive. She really gives reassuring but realistic counsel. That is my favorite thing about her.
I'm only 13 weeks so I haven't had a chance experience the hospital yet, but I look forward to it.
I should also put in a note about Dr Beard. I came in one day hysterical because I had some bleeding that was much more than usual and Dr Ohlemacher was in a different office that day. The nurses, Nicole and Naomi, were GREAT at calming me down. I was a complete wreck that day, and they spoke to me quietly until Dr Beard examined me and reassured me everything was ok but advised me to take it easy. Again, realistic, but reassuring.
I would recommend this all-female office to any of my girlfriends and family. And I am so lucky to have them on my side.
Pros: all-women compassionate, intelligent, understanding
Cons: sometimes there's a wait, but less than usual Drs
