Review content:
We've never returned... It was my intention to begin the new millenium (remember Y2K?) with a magical night on the town with my wife, beginning at Basil's. They welcomed us with the news that they'd lost our reservation. They were able to seat us anyway, as long as we promised to vacate our table in an hour. The prix fixe was exessive, reportedly due to the chef they'd imported from lands unknown. Each of our four courses was unpleasantly cold, though I'm certain they weren't intended to be. There's nothing quite like chilly, chewy venison and quivering mussels. What our waiter lacked in charm, he made up with indifference. I did not expect a buffet, but assumed we'd get salads of more than one leaf... I'd frequented Basil's before and had been modestly impressed. They've never ""knocked my socks off"" though, and I probably won't take my chances again. Pros: Quiet Ambiance, MaryTMoore Mystique Cons: Indiffernt Service, Poor Value
