Review content:
It is such a shame to watch a local tradition die. I use to tell everyon new to town to make sure they ate at Goerke's. \r
\r
New owners have put all thier focus on the bar and let the quality of the food go to hell. Brisket is like shoe leather. Chicken sandwich had to be eaten with a knife and fork it was so tough... and although I brought it to the attention of the servers, no compensation was offerered. The chicken came straight out of the bun when you tried to bite into it. Then as I was leaving, John ""the bouncer"" chased me down and asked me for my nearly full bottle of rum. He said, ""Tammy (the owner) asked if you would leave the rest of you bottle and she'll pay it back or I'll bring one over to the house. I know where to find ya'll.""\r
\r
Two weeks later when I went back, after four of us paid 5 bucks each to get in, I asked Tammy about the bottle. She said, ""I only got like 4 drinks out of it and John took the rest of the bottle."" That was the end of the conversation. Talk about no class. She could have at the very least offered our cover charge back if she didn't think she owed the bottle. It's not about the bottle. I can easily buy another. It's the principal of the matter. \r
\r
The owners are self centered drunks and from what I can see are more concerned with who's trying to rip them off than giving the patrons the attention they deserve. \r
\r
Remember bad news travels faster than good news, and with no customers you have no business. \r
\r
I know I am not the only one who misses the down home feeling Goerke's had when the family still owned it. COME BACK FREDDIE!!!!!!!
Pros: close to home
Cons: bad food, bad ownership
