Businiess name:  Meltzer Steven D Md

Review content:
I had the unfortunate experience of going to Dr. Meltzer and his staff for a D&E following the in utero death of my baby. I was warned he had ""personality"" but was not prepared for the sarcastic and snippy atmosphere he and his staff have created for their patients. With Steven (he likes to be informal, insisting on referring to my other doctors by their first names) I felt ignored, teased, and humiliated. For instance, I was berated by his receptionist, a nurse, and then himself for not following directions (to bring my own ibuprofen to the pre-op appointment) that were never provided to me. I re-wrote his pre-post op instructions and mailed them back to him - would love to know if he incorporated any of my suggestions. My yucky memories with Steven and his staff includes: *the giggled warning from nurse #1 that I would be saying wierd things while medicated during the D&E - it would be funny, she said, but I wouldn't remember (laughing at the expense of grieving moms? - that's ""personality""); *while ordering my lab work, nurse #1 and nurse #2 engaged in an office chair bumper car-like game and answered each others personal cell phone; *Steven yelling highlights from a magazine article he must have been reading in his office to the receptionist at her desk (wine tasting at that place in San Francisco!!) while I waited for to see him. I have more substantial complaints that I am sharing with the referring doctor. If you or a friend is considering Dr. Meltzer -- unless it is an emergency, get another recomendation from your doctor!! Pros: i did not get an infection, i healed, i know better now Cons: attitude of doctor and staff, billing procedures, no communication of lab results
