Let me start by saying...the kennel facilities are clean, indoor/outdoor and appear to have central heat/ac, they are fed and given clean water. I drove 5 1/2 hrs to pick up our Standard Poodle puppy who was at the time of pick up already 4 months old. This puppy had never been in a home, on a leash, in a car etc...only in a kennel. Thankfully, our puppy is super smart and has quickly adjusted to many of the "home" sounds that initially freaked him out, such as coughing, sneezing, ice-maker, t.v, etc...However, his fear/suspicion of people still proves to be a challenge. He is a real sweet and affectionate dog toward me, but he is still very cautious around other people and usually won't go near them or let them near him- it takes about 15-20 for him to come around. We are diligent about making sure he gets as much exposure to people as possible, because we want him to successfully overcome this. We love our Vincent and I wouldn't trade him for the world- he is beautiful, so far healthy- minus the typical ear infection and an eye infection (puppy stuff), but he virtually had no socialization. After seeing the kennel- I can understand why, these people have WAY too many dogs- from the looks of it - estimating- probably around 60 or more Standard Poodles (not counting miniature & toys) making it impossible for any of them to get any one on one attention. Karen appeared overwhelmed and over worked- her husband Curtis seems very indifferent and somewhat annoyed with the dogs. Quite simply-- its sad and it broke my heart... I totally agree with Lady Karina's review. I wonder if the other reviewers had their dogs shipped and purchased puppies at a young age. I believe if you buy a dog from these people and they are under 12 weeks old you will be fine, anything older and you will be facing the same issues mentioned above. Socialization is an essential element for the well-being of a puppy - an element severely lacking at this kennel. The only reason I'm giving 2 stars is for the cleanliness of the facility.
