Review content:
We had a very old lock, a 19th century lock, on a trunk that we needed to have open. The trunk belonged to a historical figure, so for purpose of historical research we needed to see what was inside. The type of lock was made around 1880. We checked with locksmiths in Washington DC, Baltimore, and other big cities. A couple of them said that maybe they would be able to open it, but that they had never worked on that type before, and they charge an hourly wage. We didn't feel like paying for their education. When we came upon East Coast Safe and Lock, Scott said that he considered the lock to be a challenge. He told us that he had never opened one before but that he would guarantee that he would open it and stay within reasonable a charge. He opened it between working on other jobs. Really they seem like they work 24 hours a day because they work with the police and businesses; they are phenomenal. When Scott called to say that the lock was off, we told him we would be right over. He did not harm the trunk either inside or out. Scott handled it with kid gloves. We trust him absolutely. I can't say enough about him. His charge for the service was nothing. Based on other people, with their hourly rates, he was more than fair. In fact, we ended up paying him more than he asked for. He was not just trying to see how much money he could get. He told us that it would be a great experience for him. Scott always told it like it was. East Coast Safe and Lock provided excellent service. If every company was run with the enthusiasm, professionalism, and fairness that they have, it would be a happy world. The Pickett Society
