Review content:
Wow! I read the one other review for this bar and wondered if we were writing about the same bar. I used to go to Dooleys which was across the street in the Gold tower office buildings basement. Dooleys closed and I had heard good things about Cookies so I thought a buddy of mine and I would try it. I would not go there on a 1st through 3rd date that's for sure. If you are looking for a truly odd experience in bar hopping I highly recommend Cookies. The night I went was I believe a friday and patrons were few and far between. I'm a smoker and LORD are you ever allowed to smoke there. The second hand smoke is thick which was pretty surprising since I've had more people in a car smoking than I saw in that bar. The karaoke was awfully loud and the folks singing were "just a tad" older than the usual fair at a Karaoke bar. The night I was there had a few gentlemen singing Skynyrd tunes back to back with ball caps and beerguts. I discovered on my way out they had a small run down patio area which would have nice to have known about to grab a bit of fresh air. On the plus side I never felt unwelcome or nervous about the place and as I write this I have plans to take another freind there this weekend. I can't see it ever becomming a regular stop for me but I'm not a big weekend drinker anyway. I can't explain what the draw of this place is, maybe it is because they don't try to hard so it feels like a temporary bar a freind might have set up in his garage. You just accept Cookies for what it is and either like it or not. I especially liked the fact that on Karaoke night they just set the gear up on the pool table so NO POOL that night. Give it a try and write your own review...I'd be interested in reading it.
Pros: Small, dark and smokey
Cons: Small, dar and smokey
