Review content:
Having just moved to Austin, I needed to find a place to get my haircut. After reading the reviews (most of which were glowing) I decided to try Orbit. After all, the chief complaints seemed to be about hair color/salon cleanliness, neither of which deterred me. I'm a man, I don't want my hair colored, and I can get my hair cut in a dumpster as long as it looks good afterward. Anyway, when I got there, the staff was super-friendly and I thought the interior was cute. I have no idea what the complaints about cleanliness were about, the place seemed clean and tidy to me. However, as soon as I met the person who was going to cut my hair, I knew I was screwed. (They seemed really sweet so I will refrain from using any descriptors re: their identity). My instructions were incredibly simple and the stylist followed none of them. Basically, I was given a crew cut. Seriously. I look like friggin' PeeWee Herman. I keep trying to figure out what exactly the stylist was going for. I still can't figure it out. It is THE WORST haircut I've ever gotten, and I keep getting angrier and angrier about it with each passing day. There's nothing I can do with it. It's so insanely short, except for these really weird, super-long pieces that I keep finding near the back of my head. One side in the front was too long while the other side was way too short, but I fixed that (kind of) when I got home. I read the owner's responses to the complaints on citysearch and, while I appreciate his willingness to try and rectify the problems, unless he's pioneered a new technique that'll bring my hair back, there's nothing I can do but wait. Considering how ridiculously short my hair was cut, I think I'm gonna be waiting a while.... I read in people's reviews that they really appreciated the lack of attitude at Orbit, and I did as well, but I'll take a ton of attitude and a good haircut over a friendly staff and a horrible cut any day of the week. Pros: Cute salon, really friendly staff Cons: My hair looks awful.
