Review content:
The Waxahachie Showbiz cinema IS a nice place and it's our favorite place to watch a movie. It's only about 10 miles away from us so we go there quite often. The tickets are a bit cheaper than other cinemas, specially the ones up in Dallas. It does have easy parking, comfy seats, good digital screens (several are 3D) and sound, plus helpful, visible management & staff in a clean & tidy environment. They sell the typical pricey movie food & drink, plus pizzas and ice cream too, but one nice surprise is their small (6""?) hot dogs for just one dollar (yes, $1.00) each. (Reviewed in Jan, 2012.) In December 2011 we had one issue with the picture quality. The duty manager did try to fix it during the showing but it still wasn't quite right (some hiccup with the 3D system) so when we saw him afterwards he kindly suggested we stay to watch it again in the other auditorium or choose another movie instead. He also gave us coupons to see another film any time in the next six months as well. This 'above and beyond' attitude gets a gold star in my book. (We've seen another movie in the same auditorium since then and it was crystal clear.) The Waxahachie Showbiz cinema's standard seats are more comfy than most elsewhere, but one auditorium has 25 special 'D-Box' seats - we refer to them as the ""rumble seats"". You pay a pretty hefty premium for these red seats. I don't think they're as comfortable as the standard seats - they're firmer, with slightly shorter seats and more upright backs - they kinda reminded me of fancy coach class aircraft seats. Just before the movie starts the power is turned on and the chairs are then ready to shake, rumble and roll along with any physical action going on in the movie being shown. You can adjust how much they move but unfortunately I don't think we picked a movie with enough action to really appreciate the D-Box seats, but they were fun and definitely worth trying at least once. Perhaps we'll try them again if we ever go to see some kind of aircraft/ spaceship flying adventure. So - that's my take on the Showbiz but don't take my word for it - go find out for yourself. I think you'll enjoy yourself there, specially if the movie's a good one too.
