Review content:
This is a review of the location at 3258 Westheimer. Today, my husband and I stopped in to get sandwiches. While our flatbread was being microwaved, I observed a critter crawl across the vegetable serving station and across the canisters of salt/pepper. Since this review is telling me I cannot use the name of this critter...let's call it a large brown one that is the bane of SE Texas. After seeing this critter, of course, I refused my sandwich (and had difficulty getting the cashier to understand why). My husband brought the critter to the attention of the second person in the store (the one fixing the sandwiches). He flicked it onto the floor behind the counter, stomped it, and kept on assembling my husband's sandwich. We walked out of there completely disgusted. This is the second time we've had a less than stellar experience at this location, but by far the worst. I have also dropped in when there was no air conditioning (which made me wonder how the food wasn't spoiling), when the lettuce I was offered was obviously old, and on several occasions, I was unable to converse with the sandwich-maker (however the man in front of me in line ordered just fine in Spanish). All of these visits have occurred since July of this year. I know that students from several neighborhood schools eat at this location on a daily basis - as well as the faculty of those schools. I am afraid that the critter we saw today, as well as my previous experiences at this location, may be indicative of bigger problems. In addition to being entirely grossed out after today's incident, I'm not sure that I'll frequent ANY Subway in the near future. It's hard to get the picture of that critter crawling across the lettuce out of my mind.
Pros: Good value for a quick lunch, overall
Cons: Dirty store, employees that do not understand English
