Review content:
I have been to Mobay on 125th Street several times. I keep going back for the food. It's great to find a soul food restaurant that offers vegetarian entrees (and delicious ones at that). The atmosphere is nice. The last time I went, though, I was not happy at the end of the meal. We received our bill and saw that the gratuity had already been added. I know that most restaurants have a policy regarding large groups, but we were a party of 2! When we inquired about this, we found out that now they automatically add the tip to every bill. I was not happy. I do not appreciate it when restaurants take the liberty of deciding how much you are going to tip. That's not a tip then! I am a generous tipper, but I don't like anyone else deciding for me. The service at Mobay could use lots of improvement and when customers do not have the ability to reward good service with a tip of their choice, poor service continues. Why do the servers need to give better service if they know that they will always get that good tip at the end of the meal...regardless of how lackluster their service is?
Pros: Good vegetarian options, relaxing atmosphere
Cons: Service, gratuity automatically added to every bill
