My 21 yr old daughter and I just spent 5 nights here over the Labor Day wkd. I had booked online knowing full well reviews were split between 'appreciative' and 'disgusted'. Life has taught me that you usually get what you pay for. I didn't expect THE RITZ for $50/night!?!?! The room was indeed small and smelled like it needed a good airing when we arrived. I immediately checked for cleanliness and it passed the test. Bedding and bathroom were impeccable. King-sized bed was surprisingly comfortable too. Room roughly 10x12ft was admittedly a little snug. I had read there would be no amenities so we brought our own. Turns out they have dispensers with Conditioning shampoo, body gel, liquid soap and lotion 'Natura' brand. Room also had a mini-refrigerator and a microwave. So those unhappy with the modest continental breakfast could easily pick up a couple things at the food store and make due. Otherwise, Galaxy diner across the Rte 66 makes very decent breakfast. Still, if you are looking just for a place to crash after a long day of sightseeing, using it merely as a homebase between the Grand Canyon and Sedona like we did, it more than fits the bill for the price we paid. Oh! And we weren't bothered by the trains at all. We were SO tired by the time we hit the sack, it didn't matter.
