Review content:
Before we even showed up for our disappointing cake tasting, it was nearly impossible to get an appointment. Three times I got put on hold over the phone, then forgotten about. They're not open on Sundays or evenings, making it impossible for a working couple to make an appointment, plus their ""wedding coordinator"" isn't available every day.
When we arrived, we had 2 little pieces of white cake given to us: one plain white, one white with a raspberry filling. That's it. That was our cake tasting. $235 for a 3-tier white wedding cake? Paddy Cake can't even do any type of decorations that aren't frosting-based ? no sugared or gelled flowers (they'd have to order those), no edible golds or glitters, nothing. They won't even put fresh flowers on it themselves ? they ""let the florist do that.""
I was amazed that the ""wedding coordinator"" was completely unprepared. We asked her, what if we wanted a spice cake instead? Or a carrot cake? Or a chocolate cake? Could we taste any samples of those? No, because she hadn't made any of those for us to try. The coordinator was disinterested in helping us think outside of the box. She seemed frazzled and ""bothered"" that we were even there. When I suggested we might like a pumpkin pie in addition to our cake, she looked at me like I'd grown a third eye.
The kicker was, I had a gift certificate for a free 2-tier cake. The ""wedding coordinator"" actually said at some point in the conversation that my fiancee and I were ""obviously going to go with Paddy Cake Bakery since we had a gift certificate,"" but to come back in August so she could make a spice cake for us to try.
What?!
If you want a plain white wedding cake that tastes no better or no worse than any other white cake, why waste $235 ? $350 here? You're better off going to Market District.
This place is a joke.
