Review content:
I am a mature woman of 33 and wear a size 16. I had spent quite a bit of time looking at David's website and knew the dresses I wanted to try, but was open to exploring their suggestions. I went with 3 friends/bridesmaids, and was told to look through the racks, pick things to try out. I am busty and know that strapless is not the way for me to go, having seen brides in the past spend their reception tugging at the dress to keep it from falling down. My wedding site is a farm, and it will be in August, so a heavy bulky dress is not what I want. The 'womans' section was very limited, none of the dresses fit my desires. I pulled 2 dresses that had the lacy look I was going for, just to give the consultant an idea of what I was looking for, and told showed her 3 dresses on mannequins that I liked. She repeatedly had me try on dresses that were nothing like what I was looking for, then waited with the expectation that I would fall in love with one of them. She explained they had none of the ones in my size that I was interested in, and kept bringing the same type to me. She would give me no info on how I could try one of those. After the 6th dress that was all wrong, one of my friends pulled me out of there. I left feeling fat, ugly, undressable, wondering if there were any dresses out there that I would look and feel good in. I cried all the way home. I found my dress at another shop that is close by, where the staff was knowledgeable, friendly, and actually listened to my wants. I'd heard horror stories about Davids, but was willing to gamble, hoping to find an inexpensive but flattering dress. I wouldn't wish that experience on any bride. Save your time and self esteem and look elsewhere. Pros: easy to use website Cons: unexperienced staff, poor listening skills, horrible selection in plus sizes
