Review content:
I moved to the Pacific Northwest about 3 years ago and have heard my neighbors and co workers rave about Les Schwab Tire Centers. I am now in the market for new tires and so based on all of this talk, I called my local Les Schwab for a quote on a set of tires. As I drive a performance car and enjoy driving, I did a little homework to decide what kind of tire I wanted so I did go into this call with a pretty good sense of what the tires cost. I must say that I was shocked when I heard the amount which they told me for a set of 4 tires. I was given a quote of $925.20 for a mounted set. When I asked what they were charging me for each tire, I was told $216 per tire (not including mounting .......just for the tire). As I had visited several ""respected"" on-line tire dealers, I knew that I could buy the EXACT same tire for $149 per tire. Even with the $49.76 shipping charges for a set of 4 (found at seveal sites) I can buy the EXACT same set of tires and have them shipped to me for $645.76. At $216 per tire, that's a 44.9% mark up on the market price of the tire ..................... and I am pretty confident that all of the dealers selling the tire for $149 are making money on it.
Pros: Great Business Model ................Overprice Everything by 45%
Cons: Very $$$
