Review content:
My girlfriend and I went to Orleans on the Front before a show at the Orpheum. We walked in with an hour to spare, and alerted our server of our time constraints. After speaking with the waitress, my girlfriend got an appetizer and I got grilled shrimp, two ""fast dishes"" that were supposed to be ""out in a bit"". We ordered cocktails/ wine. 30 minutes later, we HAD TO ASK another waitress for water, after several attempts to flag down our server. At 7:40, we alerted our server how late it was, and with a hurried/ dumbfounded look she went into the kitchen. At 7:50 (the show was at 8:00), the chef came out, told us our ticket had been dropped on the floor in the kitchen, and he was sorry. I told him we would pay for our drinks and be on our way. He said, ""No, don't, your shrimp are almost ready."" 5-6 minutes later, the shrimp and appetizer came out in to-go boxes, but I had to go up to the bar to get the ticket since nobody seemed to appreciate that we had to be at a show for 8. Mind you, the restaurant WAS NOT busy. As I got my ticket, I realized that everything was still on it, our one drink and full meal. I'm never looking for a handout, but when I was expecting a quick sit down meal and a drink, and instead had to run to put To-Go food in my car so we could make a show on time, I was not pleased. In fact, I would have appreciated at least my drinks comped. Of course we didn't want the food anymore at 7:50 (how were we going to eat it?), but the chef insisted! My car reeks like fried green tomatoes and shrimp, and of course after 2.5 hours of sitting in my car during the show, the food wasn't good. Two big thumbs down for the experience, Orleans on the Front, but kudos on your decorations, it feels like the French Quarter. Also, this was on a FRIDAY night. Not a Monday, Not a Tuesday. A Friday.
Pros: The decor is great
Cons: The restaurant is either run poorly, or it was having a very, very off night.
