Review content:
Three months ago I opened an account with Montgomery Ward a company covered under the Swiss Colony family of catalog retailers and had a very bad experience, thanks to the policies of Swiss Colony. They POLICE their customer accounts monthly ans after only a few months of doing business with them, spending more than a thousand dollars, and always paying the bill early or in 2 payments, I was refused credit on an order last week because Swiss Colony told MW that I owed them money. I called them and was "referred" to their Loss Prevention Dept where I was told by a bouncy young gal that I owed them money dating back to 1984, and that oh, yeah, iI guess it was covered by a bankruptcy. Imagine my surprise that Swiss Colony had blacklisted a customer based on information dating back 28 years- information by the way that they are NOT legally allowed to have or use because the bankruptcy was discharged. I closed my account with Montgomery Ward immediately because I do not believe any customer deserves to be treated in this manner. If these companies are that paranoid about credit plans, than perhaps they shouldn't offer them. Most of the companies charge a small fortune for shipping and handling charges so when you add that into your holiday shopping budget, you'd be better off putting things on lay-a-way at a big retailer, or buying gourmet foods at a Kiosk in your local shopping mall.
