Review content:
This guy simply knows German cars inside and out. He is a privately run shop. My wife and I took our VW Passat there for a leaky sunroof and a/c charge. He got us in quickly. He charged our a/c, it is now icy cold :) He also found that our sunroof leak was due to leaking drain lines. He also mentioned a few things to us he had noticed while working on the car. Things we should be expecting to replace soon, such as the timing belt. He didn't pressure us to do anything right away and even showed me on the car exactly what he was talking about. What he didn't know is that I have changed a couple timing belts myself. But I figured, lets see what he knows. I was dumbfounded. He knows more about engines than nearly anyone I have met. Thats saying a lot, I grew up living on a private airport, where airplane and motorcycle engines were everyday parts of life. I have met a lot of smart mechanics. Unfortunately I have never been one of them lol. This guy at Auto Techniks is sharp. He described the inner workings of several different parts of the car and how they are connected not just mechanically but also electronically. After I was wowed by his description I looked around the shop where I was standing. Nothing but very nice Porsche's, Mercedes, and BMW's plugged into laptops. The guy is good. But he does charge shop rate around 90 or 95 bucks per hour. I am willing to pay for service I know is truly needed. We won't take our VW anywhere else, especially the Houston dealership! Pros: honest and smart. didn't charge us for repairs done in less time than quoted Cons: Timleliness (not open weekends, thats all)
