Review content:
I have psychiatric issues, and these seem to come up even if I go in a for bad cold. Sure, asking me how I'm doing and if my medication is working at a physical is a good thing. Bringing up a mood disorder when I'm wheezing and could use an inhaler seems unnecessary. Further, I had one doctor suggest a newly approved antipsychotic medication to me when I went in to have my thyroid looked at because I was tired and gaining weight and knew my psychiatrist would want the test done anyway. I did not ask for a recommendation on medication. I also had the joy of one doctor telling me not to take sleep medication because it's habit-forming (prescribed PRN by a neuropsychiatrist, for pete's sake) and that he didn't care for a medication I was taking. To make things even better, my husband has had back problems intermittently for three years. When he goes in, he walks out with two or three different prescriptions for pain medication each time. I have back problems which I later found out was related to a problem with my spine and gait, and I get a prescription dose of naproxen sodium - which only relieved pain for four hours, and I was told I would not be given anything else when I called the next day. I have one or two drinks a year (seriously), I've never had issues with drugs, and I don't smoke. I am not on any medications that interact with pain medication, and quite honestly I don't want to take opiates because I don't find them effective. I politely spoke up during my last bout of back pain, and finally received a muscle relaxer and a referral to physical therapy. And as it turns out, I may have a pain disorder which may or may not be related, and it took three different doctor to get a referral to a specialist. I was straight forward with each doctor about previous visits, and my desire to get something to relieve pain. I have been going to this practice for five years. There are doctors I love (all women) and I like Borgess overall, but I think I will still change practices soon.
