Review content:
You wouldn't expect to find a restaurant this fabulous in its location. Set in a lower-income neighborhood in St. Pete, Bastas is a gem just waiting to be found. The interior is beautiful and romantic, with soft lighting, mural-painted walls and Italian music playing softly in the background.
The food is original, creative, and impeccably prepared. The service was unsurpassed. I don't know if our waiter was the owner, but he acted like he was and gave us five-star service. He was also very patient with us and did a wonderful job of assisting us in our wine & entree selections.
Once dinner came, everyone at the table kept shoving their forks in each others faces, convinced that what they had ordered must the best on the menu; all 5 dishes were incredible. The evening was topped off by complimentary amaretto and Bananas Foster prepared tableside - a fabulous show.
