Review content:
I have had a great vet at New Hope Animal Hospital in Durham for many years but I moved to N. Raleigh (Leesville area) last year and was looking for a closer vet for routine shots, immunizations, check ups, etc. and found Banfield in Brier Creek to fit the bill easily.
I started using them when my new shelter pup got bitten by something at 6pm on a Friday eve and he started having an allergic reaction and hives all over. (Isn't it always on a weekend or when your vet is closed that these things happen??)
Of course my vet in Durham was too far and closed anyway at that time and I was a good 20 min from Quail Corners-the 24 hr clinic recommended and I knew time was of the essence with an allergic reaction.
Since I was so close to Brier Creek I raced to the Banfield there hoping they might still be there since the PetSmart was open.
Thank God they were and in fact their regular hours were until 8pm which was a saving grace for future as they bridged the time between a regular vet and the emergency clinics which often open at 8pm.
I didn't have long to wait in a private room and my dog was checked out and evaluated properly and given the cortisone to recover--which he did fully. Sinc eit wa smy first vist, the exam and first visit were FREE..so you can't beat that!
Since then, I signed up for their Optimum Wellness plan which has been a great help! I can go in for any reason at no cost to see the vet anytime-just know there may be a wait during busy times like after work-if you are a walk-in.
My meds are 20% discounted as well. The plan is a small monthly amount (less than $25) and also incudes all of his shots and other yearly tests!
Having rescued a shelter pup, he has had a bout with worms and we have had to go back a few times to treat different ones he got at the shelter and the vets and techs have always been friendly and helpful!
When faced with the possible euthanization recently of my 15 yr old lab, Dr. Fishline was very kind and supportive during the discussion and visit and although we did not put him down at that time, she did check in to see how he was after the visit and then again was kind when we told her we had to put him down at the emergency clinic after another seizure at night.
In sum, Banfield has been great and convenient (they are also open Sundays!) and I wouldn't change at all.
I still keep my Durham vet in mind for second opinions and if I need more surgical options (he also recommended Armadale for routine in N Raleigh-Bowman is FAR to expensive and impersonal per other friends who have used them and Leesville was AWFUL when I visited both in customer service, attitude and pricing and has horrible reviews as well)..and I will keep using Quail Corners or the new VSH in N Raleigh for after hours emergency care-both who have been very good and helpful.
We are lucky in North Raleigh to have so many options-the good ones like Armadale, Bayleaf, Quail Corners, VSH...and Banfield Brier Creek is one of them for sure!
