Review content:
On our second trip (of many, we hope) from London to NY we wanted somewhere chilled, attractive and undemanding near our hotel in the East 50s, for that first night, when our bodies were telling us that 8pm in NY was actually 1am in London! Brasserie gave us great food and wine with attentive service, so did it for us with room to spare. (See my separate, less flattering, review of nearby Montparnasse, where the host just ignored us.) For wine I recommend their chilled white Macon Villages, whilst the house steaks were well done, just as we love them! Service was attentive, but not intrusive. Fully-priced, but hey, live a little!
Pros: Food, atmosphere, lighting
Cons: Bit pricey
