i got a $500 gift certificate to Urban Retreat, and went a total of 3 times to use it up. I am no rookie when it comes to spa trips, and have been to many in Houston, Cabo San Lucas, and Nashville. I also worked at a spa in Houston, so I know what I'm talking about. All three trips were horrific. The staff seemed uneducated, the housekeeping staff were noisy and intrusive in the waiting room, I constantly felt my services were rushed which made me nervous (exactly what you DONT want when you are coming to relax!), and the ambience was outdated (feeling very 80s). I received a two facials on seperate occasions and a hot stone massage. all terrible. also, one of my facials the aesthetician broke the skin and my skin was blotchy and swollen, i looked terrible for three days afterwards and had scabs on my face. also, DURING my treatments the staff was pushing a hard sell on the products! i couldnt relax for a single second. when i confronted the front desk, they blew me off and didn't offer any apologies or refunds of any kind! I also sent an email to the owner, and she never responded. don't go here, if you want a great spa, try Bergamos on Kirby and Westheimer, and try a facial with Christin (always amazing, i leave looking as if i have makeup on because my skin is so beautiful!) or a massage with Roy (a male masseuse but very thorough and never makes you feel rushed and i always leave feeling great!). my only complaint on bergamos is the size of the womens locker rooms, i feel they could be a little more spacious. Pros: cheaper than most spas i have been to Cons: unsanitary, ugly decor, bad services, no customer service, ect ect. also parking a nightmare.
