Review content:
I've been to Massage Envy twice now since I was given a gift card . The massages are reasonably priced and are in my opinion no frills basic massage. I've had a whole spectrum of massages from highend spas all the way down to the little beach tents in Mexico. I have to say Massage Envy leaves alot to be desired.
I got suckered into the membership (they must train the desk girls to avoid telling people it is a 12 month minimum membership)
I went in a couple weeks ago for 1.5 hour massage and was assigned a random girl. There was very little discussion before the massage, thequestion she asked was :"why are you here?" when they should be asking if there are areas to focus on, areas I don't want touched, medical concerns etc. This girl didn't even ask about pressure or anything. Anyway, she started by massaging my face (which I typically don't like because people's hands on my face kind of grosses me out, but I just went with it).... her hands smelled so strongly of smoke I almost gaged. It's her choice to smoke, but all I could think was her hands were not clean or they wouldn't smell like that. After letting her know i prefer not to have my face rubbed she moved to my neck and did this awful painful rough pushing on the sides of my throat. She keptpushing harder and harder on this spot on the delecate side of my neck on what I'm pretty sure was pushing on an artery.
The rest of the massage was a mix between painful and unpleasant. I guess I shouldnt expect much since it's a chain company but it almost feels like these people have little or no training in what they are supposed to be doing.
Once my membership is up I'm not renewing. It's not even worth the $45/month.
